The Rocky Mountain Poison and Drug Center (RMPDC) is a certified regional poison center as recognized by the American Association of Poison Control Centers and serves as a regional medical resource. The RMPDC has a track record of extensive outreach on environmental health issues affecting children, such as lead and mercury intoxication. RMPDC has gone into the community to assist in evaluating children with environmental exposures.
The RMPDC is proactive in protecting the communities it serves by providing surveillance and monitoring of health effects for populations at risk. The RMPDC has trained health professionals working 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. The RMPDC aims to bring these experiences to the rest of the rocky mountain region through the PEHSU program.
- Richard C. Dart, MD, PhD has served as the executive director of the Rocky Mountain Poison and Drug Center for ten years. As a board-certified toxicologist and emergency physician, Dr. Dart has a great deal of experience treating children with environmental exposure including lead, arsenic, and different solvents.
- Gregory M. Bogdan, PhD has worked at the Rocky Mountain Poison and Drug Center for over 7 years as the Research Director and Medical Toxicology Coordinator. At the RMPDC Dr. Bogdan has focused primarily on metals toxicology, risk assessment and the evaluation of environmental hazards.
