The Healthy Homes Initiative is an integrated, comprehensive program that addresses multiple safety and health hazards that are found in the home environment. The home-based health and safety issues covered by the program include lead poisoning, severe asthma and allergy responses, carbon monoxide poisoning, long-term respiratory effects of radon and asbestos, and injuries resulting from electrical, mechanical, or structural hazards.

For qualifying families with doctor or health department referrals, the Healthy Homes Initiative staff can investigate and repair homes that are causing or exacerbating the poor health conditions of children in low- to moderate-income families living in Denver.

The Healthy Homes Initiative is a program of Northeast Denver Housing Center, a non-profit housing and community development agency. For more information contact, Wendy Hawthorne, Program Manager at 303-377-3334 x 233.
